I don't write a lot of reviews these days, but a local band got my attention and I think they deserve your attention too.

Artists live on the frontier. They don’t listen to critics. They may not even listen to their fans. It’s not their job to listen to anyone but the muse. And the muse isn’t just whispering into the ear of violinist, vocalist, composer Emily Palen, it’s screaming, raw and emotional without apology. And she lets it direct her, bassist Larry Boothroyd (Victim’s Family, Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine) and drummer Chad Tasky (Disastroid) on a musical journey that makes me want more. A lot more. And that’s how I like my music I want that song to hit me in a way that other songs don’t. I want to hear something different upon each listening. I want to dig deeper into their discography to discover new gems. And then I want to shout at all of you to do the same! If you don’t take four minutes out of your day today to listen to “Polarity Integrate” by KnightressM1 then you are selling yourself short. Emily Palen is a name that you need to know and get excited about every time her muse has something for her to say.
